Overview

You can permanently delete your OpenMat account and its associated data at any time. This page explains how to request deletion — either from inside the OpenMat app or by contacting us directly — and what data is removed or retained.

Option 1 — Delete from inside the app

This is the fastest way to delete your account and is available on both iOS and Android.

  1. Open the OpenMat app and sign in.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Tap Delete Account.
  4. Review the confirmation screen, which explains what will be removed.
  5. Type DELETE to confirm and tap the delete button.

Deletion takes effect immediately. You will be signed out and your account will be scheduled for removal.

Option 2 — Request deletion via email

If you cannot access the app (for example, you have lost access to your sign-in method), email us at support@openmat.fit from the email address linked to your OpenMat account and include the following:

  • Your full name
  • The email address linked to your account
  • A short confirmation that you wish to delete your account

We will verify the request and complete deletion within 30 days. You will receive an email confirmation once it is complete.

What gets deleted

When your account is deleted, the following data is permanently removed:

  • Your account profile (name, email, phone, photo, date of birth)
  • Authentication credentials and session data
  • Personal preferences, notification settings, and in-app history
  • Your attendance records, lesson notes, and progression history

If you are an organisation owner, deleting your account also removes the organisations you own. This includes:

  • The organisation(s) and all associated settings
  • All member profiles in those organisations
  • Class schedules, attendance records, and lesson notes
  • Membership plans, programmes, and progression systems
  • Messages, waivers, and other academy data

Before deleting, we recommend transferring ownership to another staff member if you want the organisation to continue operating. You can also export key data by contacting support@openmat.fit.

What may be retained

For legal, financial, and operational reasons, a small amount of data may be retained after deletion:

  • Transaction records held by our payment providers (Stripe, Apple App Store, Google Play) where required by tax, accounting, or anti-fraud laws. We do not control these retention periods.
  • Anonymised references in historical records (for example, an attendance count for a past class) that no longer identify you. These cannot be traced back to your account.
  • Backups — encrypted backups may contain your data for up to 30 days before being overwritten. Backups are not used to restore deleted accounts.
  • Minimum required audit logs (for example, a record that deletion occurred) — kept for security and compliance purposes and not linked to personal information.

If you are a member (not the owner)

If you are a member of an academy (not the owner of the organisation), deleting your OpenMat account removes your personal account but does not automatically remove the member profile your academy may hold for you. Academy administrators are the data controllers for their own member records.

To have your member profile removed from an academy's records, contact the academy directly. They can also contact OpenMat support to assist with the deletion.
